Who Am I?

Hi I'm Kenny Ang I had 3 years of experiences as a Mechanical Engineer in Singapore. Currently I am transitioning to technology by taking up immersive courses in Software Engineering at General Assembly Singapore.

I have keen interest in programming and always seek for complicated and challenging projects to be done. I would like to contribute to a company with my interest, skills and ideas by working as a Software Engineer.

Education

A Software Engineering Immersive program focusing on Computer Science concepts and fundamentals, as well as Full-Stack Web Development, where we learn to build applications from the ground up using key languages and frameworks eg: HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, NodeJS, ExpressJS, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails etc.

We are required to produce 4 full web app projects, either individual or work as a team in Git and GitHub while executing software engineering projects in an Agile development workflow. Checkout my projects below.

Instructional Associate (Software Engineering) 2019

General Assembly Singapore
  • Worked closely with one or more Lead Instructors to guide students through a rigorous, transformational journey towards finding their careers in software engineering.
  • Mentor students using core fundamental skills learnt during class, as well as provide technical & emotional support to students.

Manufacturing Design Engieer 2019

KLA-Tencor Singapore
  • Worked with optics and system engineer to ensure flawless integration and test at subsystem and system level of Surfscan wafer particle scanning equipment.
  • Worked closely with and managed suppliers to ensure all design requirements are specified and achieved.
  • Collaborated with design engineers to improve effectiveness or efficiency of mechanical designs in equipment.
  • Ensured smooth production and efficient delivery of product by oversee and address to any product issue immediately during any of the production phases with the co-operation of a team of 20 technicians. Provided continuous support and technical know-how to the global installation team across the world whenever an issue occurred in the installation phase.

Equipment Engineer 2011-2015

United Microelectronics Singapore (UMC)
  • Collaborated with Process and Manufacturing Engineers to resolve AMAT Endura PVD wafer thin film sputtering machine’s technical/process issue.
  • Maintained and improved equipment KPI as well as improving product quality and yield.
  • Provided technical support to mechanical and process issue utilizing logical analytical approach (3W1H) and methodology (FMEA, SPC, Six Sigma).
  • Provided training to assistant engineers and technicians on daily and monthly preventive maintenance (PM) as well as managing their daily task.
  • Led and drive cross-functional teams and oversee the completion of new machine installation projects.

Reversi

A reversi web game, allowing players to play against each other, against a bot or spectate a match between bots!

The app was developed using HTML, CSS and Vanilla JavaScript

Blitt - Bill Splitting App

A Bill Splitting web app allowing users to split bills easily with their friends and family, as well as keeping track of total owing and spendings until payment is settled.

The app was developed with NodeJs, ExpressJs and PostgresSQL. Cloudinary and Chart.Js were also utilized for the application.

Oak & Brass Furniture E-commerce App

A furniture E-commerce app, focusing in top-view furniture placement on user’s floorplan as well as AR tech.

A project collaboration with Ang Yi Xin and CK Mah during the GA course.

The app was developed with Ruby on Rails and PostgresSQL. Bulma, Interact.Js, Strip Api and 8th Wall Api were also utilised for the application.

Bagpacker

A packing list generator for traveling. User able to form groups with tripmates, share packing list and specify who to bring specific items.

A project collaboration with Shirley Tan during the GA course.

The app was developed with NodeJs, ExpressJs, React and PostgresSQL. Bootstrap, Cloudinary and Teleport API were utilised for the application.
